Have you got the edge

Seeda - South East England Development Agency

The Small Print

The Edge is an enterprise competition brought to the South East region by South East England Development Agency (SEEDA).

  1. The Edge is a team competition for pupils aged 13 – 15 (Years 9 & 10).
  2. The Edge is organised by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and operated by The bgroup (UK) Ltd; hereafter referred to jointly as 'the organisers'.
  3. The organisers reserve the right to cancel or amend the competition, or these rules at any time without prior notice. Any changes will be notified by email to all entrants and will be posted within these rules. By submitting an entry, schools and entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules.
  4. Teams must be made up of five named pupils. Only two substitutions can be made during the period of the competition (special cases will be handled individually).
  5. Schools are allowed to submit any number of teams, but only one team per county will be successful.
  6. All schools within the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) region are eligible to audition for the competition. No payment is to be made by the schools/entrants to the organisers as a condition of entry in the competition.
  7. Not all schools will be successful in reaching the regional stage of the competition.
  8. Auditions must be received by The Bgroup (6 Charlotte Square, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 4XF) in the specified format no later than 5pm Friday 6th October 2006. All auditions will become the property of the organisers on its receipt of them and will not be returned.
  9. Successful schools must appoint a school representative* to co-ordinate activities with the competition organisers for their audition to be considered.
  10. The organisers reserve the right to verify the eligibility of all entrants.
  11. Written parental and school consent is required by all applicants prior to entering the competition.
  12. Competitors found breaking the rules will automatically be disqualified without replacement.
  13. Successful teams must take part in all five challenges of the competition to be eligible to win (dates and details to be confirmed shortly). All costs and expenses incurred by the school/entrants in attending the challenges of the competition are to be borne solely by the school/entrants (as the case may be).
  14. The judges' decision is final. The results of the competition will be notified to the entrants. Correspondence will not be entered into by the judges or the organisers in relation to the competition.
  15. Schools and teams accept that they will, without additional payment or permission, be expected to take part in various PR activities including video broadcast throughout the competition. Written parental and school consent is therefore mandatory for all media coverage throughout the competition.
  16. All prizes are offered in good faith but the organisers cannot be held responsible for matters outside their control. No cash alternatives or substitutes to stated prizes are available. However, the organisers reserve the right to substitute replacement prizes of a same or similar value (in the reasonable opinion of the organisers) if required.
  17. The organisers cannot accept any responsibility for any injury, damage, loss, or disappointment suffered by any entrant entering the competition or as a result of accepting any prize.
  18. The organisers are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, video or photographic equipment or providers, computer equipment, software failure of any email or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, telephone lines or at any web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer or mobile telephone related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in the Competition.
  19. Any personal data relating to entrants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the individual and parent's prior consent.
  20. On occasion where a team does not have five members from one school, the organisers will allow students from a neighbouring school to complete a team (eg. Make up the numbers to form a team of five plus substitutes). The above terms and conditions still apply, and all parental and school consent must still be obtained.
